Going Cookoo over this watch

Posted on February 2, 2014

I’ve had my Cookoo watch for awhile now, and so far its become one of my favorite everyday watches. Not only because it looks good, and it wears so comfortably, but it connects to my phone and does really cool things like alert me when I have a new message or missed call, or if I’ve left my phone behind. This feature has been especially useful for me as I am constantly looking for my phone and worry that I’ve left it behind. Usually I find it in the deepest recesses of my bag, but its really great that I know its just within my reach because my watch doesn’t go off. No more, “OMG, I’ve left my phone!” haha. And other things like…

The Neighborhood Pop Up Flea Market

Posted on November 22, 2013

What a fun concept. Its high time Metro Manila experienced a pop up flea market–a place where local, independent brands can sell their wares, where up-and-coming chefs can offer their unique dishes and designer drinks (they were mostly alcohol, but who’s complaining), and specialized establishments (like your neighborhood barber) can make available their services, all while listening to amazing bands. You may think of it as a collective, joint effort to bring the industry’s freshest brands together so they can properly introduce themselves. I mean, of course, we all love our malls filled with our favorite retail brands and restaurants. But once in awhile its good to venture out to new territory and see what else is out there. This is exactly what…

5 Things We Love About N/TICE

Posted on October 25, 2013

Not sure if you’ve heard, but Pormada is partnering up with a super cool brand from New York called N/TICE. We couldn’t help but play dress up the moment we got the products (which you’ll be seeing real soon) but to translate our love for the brand from our screen to yours, here’s a quick list of why we love this spunky new addition to the Pormada family. 1. Their clothes. We love that their aesthetic always involves mixing a vintage feel with contemporary New York. The result: looks that seem like an endless stream of Tommy Ton-snapped street style outfits. And who wouldn’t want to look like that? 2. Their lookbook has a puppy. We love puppies.     3. Their blog features…

Old School Pen and Paper

Posted on October 11, 2013

Despite feeling at home in the blogosphere, there’s something about writing on paper that feels real, like you’re not just blurting out feelings and ideas into thin air (or a keyboard, or a big server). Frequent trips to the mall almost always end in purchasing new pens and new notebooks. Even planners that are supposed to last a year don’t – not for lack of space (nor dates), but for want of owning a new one. (Full disclosure: I’m already on my third.) There’s a certain joy that new notebooks and pens bring. It’s like a trip back to memory lane to school shopping, traversing rows upon rows of school supplies and the anticipation of what it all meant – going to school, seeing…

Posted on September 24, 2013

Because truthfully, we only partner with brands we personally like. Here’s our Creative Director, Sarah Meier, wearing her pick from our newest accessory partner, Viva La Manika. What we love about our Creative Director: she trains our creative eye, she constantly gives us outfit ideas AND she shows us how to have fun. We suggest you cop her ways but should you only wish to cop her look, here’s a rundown of Viva La Manika items for your shopping pleasure.

Beauty Essentials from SKINFOOD

The old saying, “you are what you eat” never rang truer. And in this case, it also applies to our skin. It is common knowledge that our skin “eats” whatever we apply on it, which goes to show how important it is to know what ingredients are in the products we use everyday. Whether it is a face cream, a blusher or even a lipstick, these are easily absorbed by our skin to produce what we hope are favourable results. Of course, our goal is to look beautiful, but at the same time we have to be wary about what we put on our skin. This is exactly what Korean beauty brand SKINFOOD is all about: effective products that are made from natural ingredients…

A Visit to Lavand

Posted on July 22, 2013

Bumping into someone wearing the exact same piece says but two things about you: how gracious you react – gauged by a frown, laughter, or a compliment “nice style!” – and where you (and the rest of Manila) shop. Despite the constant influx of new brands, it seems like everybody still flocks to the same stores and, more unnervingly, the same pieces. While we like that we can easily shop in the likes of Forever 21, Mango and Topshop (especially since we found out it recently just opened it’s first store in LA. They may have a bevy of designers in Rodeo Drive but in this case Manila-1 LA-0), we can’t help but feel a little suffocated by the seeing the same pieces over…

Get to know Swiss watch brand SEVEN FRIDAY

Posted on July 16, 2013

In this day and age you would think you’ve seen just about every watch design there is. The market is surely teeming with collectible timepieces that elicit different emotions and reactions (I like the ones that make me say, “oooohhh” and “ahhhh”), but once in awhile I am completely thrown off by a design so unique that I’d want nothing more than to wear it and call it mine. Seven Friday is one of those watches. With a name that originated from the expression, carpe diem (or seize the day), I can imagine how its founder, Dan Neiderer, came up with a brand name that celebrates my favorite day of the week. The idea of making every day your own version of a Friday…
